Going to install a whole new sound system 98 Nak
As the title says im going to install a whole new system into my 1998 lexus gs300, which has nakamichi. Decided im gonna just swap everything out (Amp, Sub, Headunit, speakers, and all the wires.) Got a few questions and wanted some advice on what I should know before taking this project. First off i wanted to let it be know im not a complete noob on these kinda installations, I previously installed a headunit and rear view camera to my dads 2012 chevrolet express, but that was super easy compared to this because he only has two speakers in his whole van so i had it all powered by just the headunit and the rear view camera was just a simple drill in the back, and hooking it up to the reverse lights then hiding the wiring. Also gonna be installing some dynomat or stinger mat or fat mat havent decided yet. But I'm planning on ordering all the components and parts in the next couple days. Heres my shopping list if anyone can chime in if they have previous experience with either the components are anything i should know before install, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks so much in advanced

You dont need that wire harness for the deck since you're replacing the stock amp (wouldnt fit anyways)
as for adapter plates, do a search, there's write ups for that, including one I wrote.
Are you actually gonna do this, or is this just something you'd like to do?

Agreed. With an amp and no bass, the stocks will keep up. Personally I like the vocals given by the stock 4" setup over my focal 6.5s. If I did it all over again (and I will be), I'd go 3-way component setup up front with a tweet, a 4" and a 6.5".
With a decent deck, you could probably even skip on the 5 channel and just do a mono sub amp and put the money saved towards better components or sub. A good deck can put out just as much as those 5 channels.
So I should go full coax if i wanted better sound quality? Then for the front i could swap the original nak tweeters that are at the top of the door panel for aftermarket as well?
In addition, I would rather avoid getting a sub that requires a box, would rather get an open air sub to just mount on to the existing bracket in the trunk.
Thinking of getting this one:

Get the JDM Toyota dash kit, it matches perfectly. I'd spend as much as you can on good components and plenty of power for the front and not worry too much about the rears, if you do the front right the rear seat passengers will be fine. The Nakamichi system has 4's in enclosures in the doors, you'll need to make or buy adapter plates for 6.5's. I've seen them on eBay but if you've got a jigsaw they're not hard to make yourself. The mids for the component set would be in the doors and the tweeters could be mounted in the stock location in the sail panels.
