Limited Slip Differential Options for 2001 GS430

Hey guys, sorry for resurrecting an old thread, but I'm interested in getting an LSD for my GS 430. The one I have now whines like crazy, so I'd like to get a whole new unit, rather than swap the guts.
Honestly, I know almost nothing about how a differential works, I just know I want one. And it needs to be streetable because I do daily drive my car.
So what would you guys recommend in my case? Do I just go down to the Toyota dealership and ask for them to order me a Trd unit or is there an easier way to get an LSD? I'd rather not get something used because I'm not going to run the risk of getting another whiney diff. Thanks in advance for the help!

FYI - bananaGS covered the JZA80 vs TRD LSD in depth... see his page here.
The TRD unit is a little bit more aggressive - it locks up a little "harsher" which will give you the occasional shudder.
The Supra MKIV unit is more seamless, but there are times when it will not lock up - not often but it will happen (keep in mind even the TRD unit will do this, just not as much)
TRD is a clutch type which is why it shudders sometimes. Also one point not brought up is the (relativel to the TRD clutch type) ease of maintenance and upkeep of the torsen. The clutch in a clutch type LSD will eventually wear out and I think it needed some special lubricant also.
Auto TRD LSD?
I can't remember if it was the TRD clutch type or JZA80 torsen but I think Toyota no longer makes one or both of them. Last I checked, Elmhurst had some in stock. I frequent Elmhurst Toyota for Supra related parts and I highly recommend them. Yes Curt retired (if you are on supraforums you know what I'm talking about) but the people working there now are still knowledgeable and have a lot of Supra parts on-hand.
I'd source a pumpkin from a auto JZA80 that had the torsen. Ease of install and maintenance and the final ratio changing from 3.2whatever to 3.67 (yeah, mpg goes down) was why I went with the torsen.
Also, trust me on this, I know it's black and white but I think this video does a great job explaining.

Years later I am coming back to this and wondering if over the last 7-8yrs any new limited slip options have become available for our cars? Thanks

so is there a Kaaz unit available for GS430? I seem to find only the ones for GS300 which I guess means lower gear ratio, which I'm not big fan of.
Also, $1300 is not exactly what I had in mind, I guess gone are the days of $500 supra LSDs...

The gear ratio won't change. For example, Hert from Hoonigan used an LS430 diff in his GS300 with a Kaaz LSD to benefit from the LS430's longer gear ratio. It's the same Kaaz part number (DAT or DBT3020) for every vehicle that shares the same diff size, regardless of gear ratio.
