First Post - Got Some Issues With My GS400
hey guys,
Got a good deal on a 2000 GS400. There are a number of things wrong with it, but currently the headlights are my project.
The car came with autoleveling and xenon headlights. The previous owner put junk ebay headlights with halos and LED's that utilized halogen headlights.... they wired the low beams to the oem high beams with an adapter.. it was a mess... I now have all the wiring sorted out and its all back to stock.
my question is what are my options here ?
find OEM xenon headlights with bulbs and ballasts ? any other options ?
can I convert the car to halogens and run an aftermarket set of HID's ?

You can buy aftermarket oem 'style' headlamps (only made for halogen) and yes, convert the HID wiring to halogen. Thats probably the cheapest way. You could run aftermarket hid's in them, but that will just glare all over the place and blind people because the reflector bowl is for halogen and not hid.
Or you can source a pair of oem HID headlamps, still convert the hid bulb wiring to halogen and convert again for an aftermarket d2r hid kit as to not have to buy oem ballasts. However, that all doesnt need to be done.
what I would do... Find a set of oem hid headlamps (they always come with the autolevelers) buy a pair of oem ballasts (usually about $60 bucks each) and you're good to go, all your wiring is there.
