98 GS300 Cylinder misfire problem? Someone help!
I have a 1998 gs300 and out of nowhere the vehicle started running rough turned the check engine light on and vsc. Scanned computer said cyl#5 has a misfire and random cylinder or #3 or #1 cyl.. Went to check it seemed like the coils were going bad.. checked the brand new plugs that were installed with wires about 1,000 miles ago and they were still good.. replaced the coils with coils from my 01 gs motor (they were perfectly fine) still same problem. Took of the fuel rail inspected injectors number 5 was cracked and missing seal. I then replaced all injectors with new seals and fuel rail from my 01 motor.. problem still there. check injector wires and seems like they send signal to injectors on and off. sometimes it'll run good and misfire for a few seconds out of nowhere. Sometimes it'll misfire a lot. Took out the computer and noticed some dark brown fluid on one of the connectors.. is that normal? has anyone seen this issue before? I haven't replaced the computer yet but my guess that may be the problem...

Check the VVT solenoid.
Its located on the drivers side of the head, remove the front upper timing cover plastics (should be like 6 allen heads) and then there is a single 10mm bolt iirc that holds the VVT solenoid on, you can pull it out and look at it, see if there is oil caked up in it, if not, you can test it with a multimeter iirc.
Its a 125$ part from lexus, takes 15 minutes to install, and if you are having missfire issues and the VSC/CEL light click on that may be the issue.
My car one day started missfiring randomly at idle, VSC/CEL came on, then went back to normal but VSC stuff stayed on, pulled codes and had a missfire and a VVT control code, replaced the solenoid and everything seems to be fine.
