Looking at an 01 GS430. Every option except navigation. Interior is pretty clean, no tears or major issues with the leather. It has the levinson audio with a brand new amp. The exterior issues Are a spot about the size of a quarter on the front cover that is missing (car is silver), about 15-20 rock chips on the hood of, none are rusting, a quarter size ding on the right quarter (could be PDR), and a 12" scuff on the rear cover that is pretty insignificant, just very light/faint scratches. Car has 93k, timing belt, drive belt, after pump all done at 74k in 7/2011.

Thoughts on a good offer?

Has clean carafe and autochech as well.

honestly you would be better off finding one with slightly higher miles so that you can be sure the O2 sensors were changed and some suspension parts because changing all the O2's are very expensive. For this car I wouldnt recommend you pay a penny more then 6,500 for it. But up to 7,000 is fair. Is this from a dealer or private seller? if it is a private seller try to get him down to 6 flat. if its a dealer try to get them to 6500

and to think I paid 12,000 for mine 3 years ago with 92k on it. But that was 3 years ago the price has came down alot on this car since its over 10 years old. I made the mistake of looking for one with low miles but now I learned well maitained higher mileage cars are much better since less money needs to be spent on it to make it drive like new

i agree on buying a higher mileage car. When purchasing i tend to learn more toward the maintenance since i know these cars are solid built and mileage would not be much of an issue. maybe i overpaid for my car but it has been solid from day one. I paid 12k for it 3 years ago with 140k miles, 2001 gs430. Dealer maintenance since day one.

I don't really have a problem w/ buying a higher mileage vehicle, I just figured with that maintenance done at 74k, I'd be good for awhile. Vehicle is in really good shape. I've been looking at them for several months. I can't find anyhting remotely close to $7k with this mileage, much less $6500.

Dealer wanted $8400 and honestly, from what I've seen on CL and Autotrader (and even on here), that seemed pretty inline for it.

Ive owned about 5 GS' --- a '98 300, a '99 400, currently my 2000 300 (gte now), an '01 430 and another 300. All from 04 to as recent as 2012. Im the type of person to go for a lower mileage vehicle -- less risk of people doing their own maintenance etc and just doing all maintenance from when I purchased vehicle. I would recommend to go with the lower mileage one and inspecting the car your self and doing baseline PM. that's just my two cents.

Since youve had so many GS' I feel your the perfect person to answer this: How would you compare the new 4GS to the GS430 and the GS400 as far as build qualilty/handling/performance/MPG? I was looking into the 4GS but I drove it and I wasn't that amazed since im used to the V8. interior quality is really amazing though, I would say best yet...

Expect to pay atleast $8K, It's a bonus that the timing belt was none already. Start at $7500 and see what happens. You may be able to get it that low if stuff like the doorlocks (common problem) aren't all working etc.

I'd jump on it right away. V8 are extremely rare. Some people drive or fly 100s of miles to get one.

I dont know where you live but in NYC theres plenty of them, they USE to be rare but it seems ever since the 4GS came out I see them at auctions ALL DAY long, retards actually buy the 300 instead simply because they THINK theyre getting better MPG when its really 1-2 MPG difference. Theres alot of them on craigslist too. But you cant compare NYC to anywhere else we probably have more 2GS here then anywhere in the country

if you can get it for 7500 jump on it. since its low miles its a good deal. Say 7500 FIRM or walk out on them, guaranteed they will call back, they got it as a trade in and dealers always RAPE people when they trade in old cars they probably paid 5-6000

Nothin local (st. Louis). Looked at a 01 gs430 w174k that was in rough shape, $6500, firm. Found an 03 at a dealer w/ 123k, no records $10k. Not to mention several 400s, all over $6k, all over 100k, most well over 150k. This was really the best deal, best recorded car I could find within 500 miles.

I bought one fully loaded with every single option available 2 year ago for $2,500 with 280k miles. Changed valve cover and oil pan gasket. The car drive like a champ, and looks like new.
