Default has anyone cloned a new master key using just a valet key?

EDIT: July 3rd

Okay so I've got a new master key, I had a dealership cut it, and I've programmed it to unlock my doors, which took literally 1 minute.

However all I have is the little grey valet key, not an original master key, so I can't initiate the "pedal dance" procedure to clone a new master key.

"Pedal dance" referring to this procedure:

The car is a 98, is there any way to clone my new master key without an original master key, and without taking it to the dealership? They want like $400 to reflash the lock ECU or something.

Hoping a lexus tech or someone who has been through this can chime in. I searched through a ton of threads but everyone seems to just admit defeat and pay the dealership. But the ease of the door programming sequence has me thinking there has to be an easier way to solve this problem.

That sounds about right (maybe a little high) for the dealer. I believe they charge around $250 USD here in the states. You should be able to get a blank master with programming instructions from eBay cheaply, and get it cut for about $30 US.

Where in Canada are you located? in Richmond Lexus in BC they charge about that price but that includes cut and programming.

I bought a second key from ebay and had Lexus cut and program

You can get a replacement key for $35 with transmitter and the dealer will probably want $90 for the cut and program. You still end up on top

my GS came with 2 main transmitter keys plus the valet key AND a little aluminum numbered tab . That numbered tab is the one necessary to obtain the correct number so a new proper key for your car can be programmed by the dealer . With the tab in hand , I don`t think that they would charge that much for issuing you a new key , but I cut be wrong .
My two main keys are in good condition and the valet key never has been used , so I am in good shape up to now .
