White smoke from gap in catalytic converter after plug change
well I will try and make a long story as short as possible, but I did a plug change a while back, took a few days due to the fact that apparently the plugs and wires were the originals on my 1998 gs300 and coils plug connectors almost literally disintegrated in my hands when I took off the plug wires. Kinda wish I had pictures of that, but anyways....
After I finished the plug change, which if it helps, I did NOT use the dome grounding, just the usual J-hook, after asking the tech who sold them to me (yeah I know he'd tell me that Jesus himself used them if it gets them the sale) said that its ok to use them on my car. My car wouldnt throttle and I got a CEL but without the scanner had no idea. Unfortunately my class load became massive for the next month-ish and only now have recently aquired a scanner (and degree in accounting whoop whoop) to find that the CEL was because a pin in my accelerator position sensor bent so it did not seat so once I bent it back it was fine and revved, although the idle was pretty high at around 1000-1200. I drove it around and other than a low battery, all seemed well. But once I parked with the car on, I popped the hood to see that white smoke (smelled terrible) was coming from a gap in the catalytic converter. as if on cue, the engine started sporadically dropping in RPM every 10-15 seconds (rough estimate, I did not time it). by then, I had to go to work and did not have a chance to investigate further. Can anyone here provide insight as to what caused this?
