Default The Great Piggy Back Debate - AEM F/IC 8 or Apexi Neo?

I have been reading up on both of these units on the forums for awhile now and it seems like both units work fairly well in tuning our cars. I have had several conversations with DynoComp out here in Phoenix. They are comfortable tuning with either controller, even with our adaptive ECUs.

Now here is where I'm confused. From everything that I have gathered, the F/IC 8 is capable of doing much more than the Apexi Neo. If this is true, why does it seem like nearly everyone who is not force induced uses the Neo? I guess the $300 price point of the Neo, versus the $600 price point of the F/IC 8, is pretty appealing...

I am going to be making a purchase here in the next week or so and wanted some general feedback/recommendations/clarity. I am currently leaning towards the F/IC 8, but if I can spend half the money, and still get the job done, it would be dumb of me NOT to go with the Neo.

Thanks in advanced for the feedback.

Most of us without F/I went with the Neo because we kept performance modifications to the basics (I/H/E). At least that's why I chose it.

Ok. Here goes. The Neo is perfect for those that feel they will never go forced induction or if they do go with a supercharger setup at low boost (5psi or lower) where you will use 370cc injectors or smaller. This piggyback only adjust AFRs. The stock ECU in our cars are capable of adjusting fuel up to 150% over the stock fuel injectors; our cars come stock with 240cc injectors.

If you're going forced induction (SC or turbo) at higher PSI where say 440cc injectors and larger are needed along with a hi-flow fuel pump, the FIC-8 is required. This unit can retard/control timing and control injectors as well as AFRs.

If you want FULL functionality and tuning a standalone will be needed but you WILL lose some functionality of the car such as traction control and other features.

Well, I already know how the Apexi Neo works as I previously had it on my N/A setup with bolt-ons. It worked great! Gained roughly 20whp and 17wtq!

My car is currently at the shop getting my supercharger installed and I went with the AEM FIC-8. You'll read up in my future build thread my thoughts on the setup and this piggyback unit. Thanks

I am not planning on going force induced anytime soon. I am going to save myself the $300 and go with the Neo for now. If/when I decide to go force induced, I will upgrade to the F/IC 8.
