Searched all over this site and all I found was for the gs3. Changed them out last week due to a CEL. Fyi Camshaft sprockets and valve cover must be removed to remove The Camshaft Bearing Caps. I think everyone should at least clean these out during timing belt service to avoid headaches in the future. You need to remove both sides as they both have filters in them.

Here are the pics I took of them as they sit on the cylinder heads. I removed the camshafts as well to replace the camshaft seals since mine were leaking.

Thank you for sharing. I have been searching for hours trying to find this out. Just bought a 2001 LS430 with the p1349 code. I replaced the solenoid with no help. Since I plan to replace the timing belt soon anyway, as I don't know the service history, I will plan on replacing these filters as well. Being that they are so cheap I will just replace vs cleaning them. Thanks again.

props man for getting down to the nitty gritty and documenting it. I was actually at work today towards the end and decided to pull out my oil control valves for the vvt to inspect them and did not see any screens that would have required cleaning. now I know. good job.

P1349 indicates the driver's side oil control valve.
