Default update on the JDM wood steering wheel (pics)

Well, I received the wheel ... what a beautiful thing , lol... BTW, I bought from 77i9 which is in Japan . He offered to get it for me for less money than the original sellers , so I accepted .
Anyway, now I am installing this thing and everything was ok until I got to the e-shift buttons , which I don`t see how to disassemble without breaking them , so I am stuck . I cannot proceed with the disassembling until I solve this .
I will wait until somebody here give me a clue on how to do this , so please, I need some help here asap .
I have everything spread here out on the dining table , and stuck with this e-shift buttons problem .
How can I take them apart ? I need to slide the cables out and re-route them into the new steering wheel . Thanks

Not sure buddy, I'm sure it's been done though, that's why I went for the non controls on my WoodGrain, I don't use them anyway...

I can always have the extreme option of cut and weld the cables , but I really do not want to do that .
But because I cannot have all of this on the table forever , if I cannot find a solution in a little while , I would have to do that .
I noticed that the cables are welded tp a small metal tongue that is inserted on the button`s middle . If I cut take that metal tongue out , that will be great, but I am afraid to use force and break the damn thing .

Well, I cut the cables . Not big deal, just I didn`t want to do it , but I think it was the best option for me .
Went to Home depot and got some of the heat wrap tubing and that is perfect for it .
So, back in business again .

You should ask the mods to merge this with your original thread. It only makes sense for future searchers so they can see the wheel in that thread. As I said in that thread, the match was close to perfect. CL has tons of threads.

I have used the e-shift occasionally ,and since I have it , I wanted to function .
What I did was to cut the cables and inserted 1 inch of heat wrap tubing about the size of the cables and after I soldered each cable , very carefully , individually, heated the tube wrap to perfectly insulate the connection . It really came out professional , so , I am satisfied and it was way better than screwing around with the buttons .
