What would you pay for 2001 gs300?

Maintenance costs? Each engine has their difficulties on certain parts. The 400/430 is not a difficult engine to service. Both require timing belt replacements so I'm a little confused on what you are referring too with that statement.

most get 300's over 400/430's due to maintenance costs. Maint cost on anything engine related is going to be half the time or half the money (depending on if you work on your on car). if my starter goes bad, i can have it replace in 30 minutes.....have fun on the 400. It's not all about horsepower/ torque to everyone. I have another car as a toy that i would rather sink my money into, my GS is my reliable daily, and when something goes wrong i want it fixed with the least amount of coin and time as possible. 300/ 400/ 430's are all great cars, but depending on what you want out of it will determine what direction you go with the engine choice.

So I'm the only one who can replace the starter on yhe 400 in 1 hour ?? A mean drinking beer at the same time? ?de02?dc4d

As someone coming from Mustangs and Camaros it amazes me everytime I open my hood and don't see a single speck of oil anywhere. F'n amazing. If you're looking for a cruiser that looks good and is virtually worry free, then a 300 is fine choice. If you are used to driving high horsepower cars with the same worry free maintenance, then a 400/430 is more what you're looking for. Obviously they are both excellent cars.

I guarantee you are not changing your timing belt and waterpump in the same amount of time as a 300. I work on these cars for a living, im going off experience and not what someone else on some forum said. I never said 400's didnt need timing belt maint.....but a dealer/ shop will charge more for a v8 over an inline 6 (if you dont work on your own car). Im not getting into this 300 vs 400 debate just simply stating facts. If youre happy with your 400/ 300 thats great. Im Simply stating not everyone wants the same car based on various reasons.

really....so how many of each have you done? i find it funny when people say they are not trying to argue but then try and argue. You are entitled to your opinion, and i'm done posting about this matter. It's hard to explain anything to anyone on here because everyone thinks they know everything already.

My 300 was smoked by a Toyota Camry and Accord (both v6) off the line and on the freeway never knew those 2 cars were that fast. I love this car though, never owned a car as smooth as this. In the future, I want the Silver 05 430 with black interior, while I still have my 300.

I gave up my street drag racing decades ago, but the new Altima with 4cyl is a tick faster than the 2GS3, and the new Accord v6 is tick faster than 2GS4/430.
And they both get >30 mpg on highway.
**with that said, I wouldn't trade my GS for either one of them, brand new.

^^^ I test drove a NEW 2013 V6Accord, though is quick 0-60 in under six secs. It ain't quicker than any of mine, GS400 or GS430. Maybe a higher miles GS and i emphasized maybe, I'll be happy to Line up with any new Accord anytime..
and i get 27-28 mpg on hwy in my GS400..

I couldn't find a decent 01-05 Silver 430 with black interior at the time I was looking to buy, so I settled for the first Silver/Black GS300 I saw for 6 grand. I was happy with it, 145K miles, show room condition inside and out. I have a lead foot, so I drive it hard and keep it at power every time. Torque is very strong. A year and a month later since owning it, I've replaced alternator, valve cover gaskets, spark plugs+wires, heater core, condenser/receiver-drier, evap., expansion valve, compressor, and a mode servo all OEM. After all that spending, not letting it go. Amazing car!

Less than 2 seconds is not considerable. Not that it matters as these cars are not drag racers. They are luxury sport sedans and both the 300 and 400/430 are fine cars.

I wasn't going to put down the 300 owners but since you said that, its true. At the time, I was looking at GS's (when they were new). I had Maxima 190HP V6. I test drove the GS300, though smooth and refined. It wasn't enough juice for me. My '98 Maxima v6 with 190HP can outrun the GS300 back then. People say they don't care about power but Its needed to drive in hwy traffic unless you drive like driving like Grandpa.. Everyone that I knew that had a GS300 (wish or secretly wished) they had GS400. Not gonna lie.. its Truth.. Sorry if some of you 300 people are getting all butt-hurt over a known fact.
