Wheels
I have a Silver 2002 GS 300 that I'm looking to put wheels on. I've never had anything but the factory 225/60/16 wheels and tires on the car. I'm thinking about putting 20x8.5 Lexani R04 Black/Machined wheels on the car. I enjoy the drive now and wanted to see if this will completely ruin the feel the car gives now, or what else within the vehicle will have an adverse effect from switching to the larger wheel.

I went with 19s because I was having the same dilemma you're having, and even 19s "ruined" the stock feel. I'm riding on discontinued Maya ST5s, 19X8.5F(245/35/19) +23mm /19X10R(275/30/19) +28mm (don't quote me on the offsets). The car rides much stiffer but also looks much better. Bumps in the road are more noticeable, pot holes become your worst nightmare, curb rash happens if you're not careful, but they look damn good.
It is all a matter of preference. I love the Lexani R04s, and if you can afford them, I say hell yea put them on your GS. If you aren't dropped already, you might as well save up and do it all at once

I think a 19/20 stagger is where it's at... But honestly, if you're going to go up to a 19", then I doubt you'll notice much of a difference in ride quality versus a 20".

Ride quality will depend on your tire selection. The lower profile of tire, the more horrid the ride quality will be. Going from stockies to 20 is a drastic change in rim size, so You will be going from a 60 series tire down to a 35, 30 series tire. I think you may be very unhappy with ride quality. For some peeps its comfort and functionality, for some it's style over function. GL with your decision.
