Default Car idles low, slow cranking, & hesitation on go after start up.

This is only sometimes. I noticed my idle was low when in drive, a week later i noticed it was cranking slow. A couple days ago i started it up and when i pressed the gas it felt like my e brake was on. Took it to autozone to have my battery & alt checked and they were both good. About an hour ago i went to the gas station and filled up, i try to start the car and it cranked really slow and did not start. I got the clicks and my stereo would turn on and off.. I got it jumped and then drove it home. Turned it off and it started back up right away no problems. Could it still be the battery since i had to get it jumped? I was so close to buying a TPS after reading the recent threads but now i dont know what to do. Any suggestions?

Get a meter and read it yourself. If the battery is not bad....then it is not bad. Why would you replace it?? Use a little common sense

Check the cables to and from your battery, get a wire brush and brush it off real good making it clean.

Also make sure that the wire going to the bolt on the left (see pic) is also clean. My wire was coated with old battery spillage and blocked sufficient contact causing my car not to start and the radio going in and out.

Bought that same connector and a new battery, even though autozone said my battery was good blah blah blah, took all kinds of goofy electrical gremlins away, these cars are SUPER sensitive when it comes to faulty batteries, just buy one u can always return it...

These cars can do funny things when they're not getting good power from the battery, including the sluggishness you mentioned. If the battery and alt. are good start checking connections like these guys have said. Sounds like an electrical problem, just gotta track it down, and you can't assume the people at AutoZone know what they're doing!

Thanks guys, just went to get a second opinion at a different autozone and was told my battery was running at 9 volts. It was my battery, bought a new battery and connections like suggested and the problem went away and started up like a champ, i havent seen the idle drop to 350-400 yet so we will see what happens, guess these cars are super sensitive when it comes weak/faulty batterys.

If it does it again check the regulator on the alternator....plenty of alternators with bad regulators test good....
