Where did all of this hostility come from? I was simply saving you potential headaches by letting you know that they do not need to be removed, thus making your "clip" dilemma irrelevant.

It's not gone...you just didn't look. I linked it.

Btw before going through all the trouble of removing the headlights and front clip. Why not drop the motor out from underneath the car. Much cleaner and easier. Jack up the car and unbolt and leave the rest to gravity. Easy as pie my friend

Well with a seized engine moving forward sounds pretty tough... ThomasGS4 knows what he's talking about.

We are doing this on ramps n my garage. Car sits very low would there b enough clearance? He's ( my mechanic) is getting pretty old upper fifties so I really font think he wants to work from his back all that much. N all actuality I would love to take it 2 a shop n put it on a lift n do it but I was getting crazy quotes!!! Nobody around here really wanted to touch it n no way was I taking it to Lexus or Toyota!

Yes...car will be very light once the motor drops out and you should be able to lift the shell up and over the motor which will now be cleanly sitting on the floor

Well since you think my previous information was invalid, here's a good tip of advice; the driveshafts are extremely difficult to remove while still in the car, so when you drop the engine/tranny from underneath, it's usually best to drop the driveshaft and differential. Your mechanic will say the same thing.

You are wrong.

Take a read of the sense of community sticky at the top of this forum and PM me to discuss how you would do things differently in this thread from post #3 onward.
