Question no cabin air filter

Its cold as hell up here in NYC and my 2gs is not giving heat....it blows air but only cold air. the temp could be all the way up to 85 but no warm air.....I decided to check my cabin air filter, don't know whether it has anything to do with my problem or not but i figured its probably hella clogged and dirty. open the glove box, remove the panel and wow i have no cabin air filter whatsoever......not even the cartridge that holds the filter...i could buy a filter but what about the cartridge???

I don't think not having a filter would hault your heating capabilities but i would reccomend getting one so that nothing blows in your face when the a/c is on. Sounds more like a malfunctioning heating unit.

I agree, it sounds like the heater. You can probably find a filter cartridge very cheaply at a salvage yard.

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...vo-motors.html

There's the link on how to change out your servos bro. Read it VERY carefully.... By the sound of the description, it seems like your temperature servo which is referred to as the "COOLING SERVO' in that link is what's wrong in your car. It's what changes the actual temperatures of the air coming out your vents from cold to hot. The MODE SERVO changes the functions of where your air is coming from. Head to feet to head+feet, for example. I hope this helps out.... Look things over and carefully understand what your looking at and what your doing. It's a simple fix. I did it myself.

If that doesn't fix your problem, it maybe your heater core. Check your coolant levels and make sure the system is full of coolant. The heater core needs coolant for you to actually feel the heat.

Is your temp gauge the normal range (somewhere in the middle) With weather this bad you should put a piece of cardboard in front of your radiator.. I've done this had no problems but don't block it completely.. If the gauge shows normal then your problem is else where..

Pretty common thing to do here in canada. If its -40 C just think about how cold the air is when your going 100km/hr. Blocking the rad properly helps the car stay at operating temp.

U serious man? at minus 40 deg F or C you should not be out driving, these are dangerous temps..Not only will your rad need cardborad but alot more stuff, all types of things can happen..

You make it seem likes its a common thing... No need for carboard in NY

yea im dead serious.. if you think driving in that weather is dangerous? Try working in -53 C for 11 hours. I wonder everyday why i live out here... free health care and higher wages i suppose.

Dam bro you should relocate. That sounds pretty tough. Like Alaskan life. That ain't no joke. We only talk about those temperatures down here in PA when we talk about working in meat freezers. That's cold bro. I hope all is well.
