need help with setting a price for my 02 sport design
hey all just needed some help with figuring out whats a fair price to sell my 2002 gs300 sport design for. i've seen a wide range of prices for these cars depending on condition and mileage. obviously mileage plays a big role which is what i'm worried about because my 02 has 230k on it. i bought it from the original owner of the summer. body and interior is pretty clean. could use a little touch up paint on the front bumper and mirrors. engine and tranny is an ok shape but will need slight maintenance. currently has an exhaust leak. and will need a valve cover gasket. more than likely i'll end up doing this before its put up for sale as well as fix the exhaust leak. the air bag light flashes i dont know why. it actually started flashing a month after i got the car. for the most part the car runs pretty good. i daily it work about 80 miles a day. my reasons for selling it is because as for right now i need a 4 cylinder since gas is kinda killing me... and i'd like to purchase a third gen gs around spring/summer time rather than invest money into modding this one.
my sport design is completely factory. its silver with black interior (has the walnut wood trim) and also has perforated seats.
what do u guys think is a fair price range to call for it considering mileage. and forget the exhaust leak and oil leak. i'll fix that before its sold.

Question....what sort of maintenance history are we talking about? The one thing you have going for you is that it is a sportdesign which seems fairly rare. Unfortunately the miles are pretty darn high which is going to be your biggest hurdle.
I can only speak for myself, but I would have a hard time paying any more than $3,000 if the car was in good shape and had solid maintenance records. If not, the price goes down dramatically in my book. But that is just me. You would be far better off going to Kelly Blue Book or NADA for a value.

^^^^ are you crazy? U could get an easy trade in value on that for 5k since its a sport design. What used car has records nowadays? I would buy that car for 6k i would sell it for 7 firm.

3-4k if you're lucky.
There's the one SD for sale and has been for over a month now for 6k [as a "CL price"] and the owner still has it, no bites.
Here's the link, 6000$, 160kmi, little mods with extra parts; https://www.clublexus.com/forums/lex...dallas-tx.html
It's a high-miler that needs work... what more can be said?

its something just to throw up for now.... if i don't get any interest in week or so... i'll lower the price a bit. my friends advise me to keep it till tax return time which isn't a bad idea. guess i'll wait n see.

Well that would be a stupid move if you did something like that (not calling you stupid, the advice is stupid). No way that car is 6-7k. We haven't seent he car and based on what he listed, I wouldn't pay no more than 3k for it. My car all has all of the records and I constantly log my maintenance into lexus drivers site. People who actually care about their car keep records on it. Flashing air bag light, tranny is "ok", so that means that it's slipping, high mileage with no records. His car is a SD, but it isn't the rare version. The rare in my book is the 03 models with tinted headlights, wood wheel, and saddle. That commands top dollar.

like i said... i just threw it up there for that to see if i get any bites which i'm sure i wouldnt get much if any..... i'm an honest seller and i don't plan to sell this car to someone without them knowing what it needs. the main reason i didn't list the issues was because i plan on taking care of them before the sale of the vehicle. the exhaust and oil leak is minor repair for me. the timing belt i don't mind doing if someone doesn't haggle me on price too much.
