shifter cover slide GS400/GS300
hello all:
I have benefited from many posts and would like to create one myself for those either looking to change out the cover slide, and/or LED bulb that is located at the shifter/console in a G2 GS300 or GS400.
While changing out the LED bulb I learned the receptacle that holds the LED bulb had actually widened over time causing a short in the connection. there is a small copper wire running up the side of the LED bulb that sometimes fails to contact in the receptacle. Simply bend out the wire(s) so they connect when plugging in the LED bulb and you should have a good connection. I know this is basic but this issue is common and something easy to overlook.
While disassembling the shifter console, here are some other things I learned that may help others: 1) the LED bulb size is actually #37 for Sylvania (or other) brand at Advance Auto or O'Rielly parts. Some other posts had this as part #74, which does NOT fit. The cost is approx $5.00 for a 2-pack. 2) Also while disassembling my console, I found that the flexible black plastic, rectangular piece that goes right under the shifter indicator slot had cracked and broken due to age. After researching diligently, the part is called a "cover slide" and is part no. 35975 or stock part 3597530240 from South Atlanta parts. the parts diagram is located here http://www.lexussouthatlantaparts.co...ze/330619H.jpg.
A great post for 1-2-3 steps with photos for disassembling the console/shifter is located here: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=362931
Again, thanks to everyone for keeping this forum a great resource for us Lexus DIY lovers

What a life saving post. Im being over dramatic but not sarcastic. The previous owner of my car spilled soda and crumbs everywhere so during my disassemble and cleaning i snapped my cover slide into three pieces. No biggie i guess. A new one will look better than a clean old one. I am glad its a part that is available and not ridiculously over priced.
