Default GS rims

My 02 GS300 has the standard sliver stock rims. I don't mind the rims but would like them to be a different color. Has anyone had their stock Lexus rims painted? If so, how did it turn out?

Try Plastidip. If you don't like how it looks just peel it right off.

I had my factory gs400 rims straightened (since after market rims tend to be of lesser quality) and painted.
Looks like a new rim ($120/rim) total. Base paint and clear coated back to original color.

They look really good powder coated black. Eventually I am going to get myself a spare set of OEM wheels for my 02 gs300 and powder do that because I honestly think the stock rims for these cars look great. Like mccrimmon said, I am going to PlastiDip them first to get an idea of what they look like. I PlastiDipped my grill a couple months back and I am very happy with the way it looks. Whatever you do...keep us posted with some pics!!

Did you do a different color?

What color are you thinking about going with for your rims? And what color is your GS?

Sounds like he just did a refresh with original color. The reason I suggested plastidip is because you can see how it looks on your car with a different color. If you like it, peel it off and give it a proper paint job. Or if you like the way the plastidip looks you're set.

Yeah, I'm seriously considering plasti dip, but I'm spooked by some negative reviews I've read in regard to doing it on rims. That being said, it looks like a pretty simple process on youtube. Will most likely give it a try. Planning to do anthracite grey. Thanks so much for your input.

I did some IS wheels this summer. Just make sure you put enough coats on so that if you need to peel it off it will be easier to peel.

I had to use them for awhile cuz I blew out two tires on my 20's lol.

That turned out really well! Nice job!

Do you remember how long it lasted before having to be re-painted?

Honestly, I chipped a piece off the first day lol. It's only cuz I tossed one of them into the back of my truck face down without thinking. I had them on for about five months and the dip held up fine.

Were you able to just re-spray over the chipped piece?

I sent pics of my dark grey emblems to plasti dip and they suggested charcoal grey so I think I'm going to try that to start.
