Nearly had new L-Tuned mufflers on tonight, until...

Received my L-Tuned mufflers today (thanks Steve!). They look AWESOME. Figured I'd see what's involved in installing them... hmm... didn't look too hard, back end of current muffler is held up with two rubber rings and the other end is bolted to the main exhaust piping with two bolts.
Got the bolts off one muffler and then had a HECK of a time getting the back end out of the rubber loops (anyone got any brilliant ideas?). Then I delicately tried to figure out how to get the new muffler installed. By the way, the new muffler is MUCH smaller (with a longer connecting pipe) than the stock one, but with a MUCH bigger tip.
There's a metal (rubber coated?) 'ring' (gasket, spacer, something like that) that goes between the muffler and the main piping. New ones (2, one for each muffler) came with the mufflers. However, the old one is IN TIGHT and I didn't feel like taking a screwdriver to dig it out so in the end I gave up (chickened out) and put the old one back on (successfully, surprisingly).
Guess I'll get the dealer to do it unless I get some words of wisdom/encouragement. Anyone replaced their mufflers themselves?
While the old muffler was out I did take a picture of old and new, and will post once I get some time.

its easy, i watched the guy do it with my GReddy. for those rings, first unbolt the bolts and then push the muffler up the rings should loosen up, then pry them off with a screwdriver or your hands. then pry off the gaskets from the stock Y-pipe, put the new ones on, and then put the hangers throught the o-ring again, then bolt the exhaust to the y-pipe with the new gasket i know you can do it!

bitkahuna,
I'm real interested in your first impressions re the stock Lexus sound vs. the L-Tuned mufflers. Although I'm having a tough time imagining anything but Lexus quiet inside the cabin of my '01 GS3, I'm always open to change
Subtlety would be a requirement.
Thanks, Steve

I dont have much advice on the mufflers bitkahuna, sorry. I would think that it would similar to other installs, check the net. I have the L-tuned exhaust on my GS3 and would recommend it. It is loud, but it is pretty deep so its not that bad. At low rpms it is too loud imo, but on the highway you dont notice it. It definately is louder than the stock one so try to hear it on a car or look into a silencer if you are unsure.

Need photos!!!
Any chance getting some pictures of those L-Tuned mufflers installed on a actual GS? I am still debating between the Borla and L-Tuned. I know how the Borla looks and sound but never seen the L-Tuned on a GS yet.

Thanks for the feedback.

B, like many others I eagerly await both pix and sound description. My old SC3 (and the SC4 before) was/were about right, sound-wise; it's just too quiet in the cabin when opening the holes.
BTW, tho off-topic, do you also have rear strut tower brace?
Thanks!
