You know, the LS V8 swap guys remove the OEM unit and replace it with a Camary system. They don't have ABS aftward but, they didn't spend $1900 for a new master cylinder either.
All the parts for that unit are available from Lexus. You don't have to replace the whole unit.
Don't waste your time with a 1998-2000 master cylinder - get one from a parted out 2001-2004 used gs300 or gs400/430. A member on here aliga sold me mine - he parts cars in NY I believe. He gave me a great deal, $400 shipped, and my mechanic put it in for about $100. Its a simple swap, there is single sensor that you need to keep from your old unit, and screw into your newer unit (since your old computer doesn't understand the codes from the newer sensor, so you keep your older sensor and screw it into your newer MBC), but other than that its a piece of cake. This is a major improvement in brake feel and power as well. The newer unit is much improved and worth the upgrade on performance and feel alone in my book.
