Yup, on it. those white handles on a green car are an eye sore. Drives me nuts every time I look at it.

If anybody can link me a D.I.Y on how to remove the exterior door handles I would appreciate it. It might be cheaper just to take the handles and have painted than the whole car right now.

KBB for a '98 GS300 with 140k miles in excellent condition is only $3,435.

Ok CL, so I was driving and the CEL was already on but I already knew I had a bad O2 sensor (Bank 1, sensor 2) from the first time I checked out the car. The car started stumbling and hesitating and the CEL started flashing. Now I know that can't be good, so what do I do. Well first I get home safely and park the GS, don't want to drive it some where and get stuck. I get ole faithful (93 Toyota Pickup) and drive str8 to harbor freight and get this bad boy:

CAN & OBD II Deluxe Scan Tool

Best $80 bucks I ever spent

Ended up pulling code PO304

Cylinder 4 misfire

I praying that it is just a spark plug change and while I'm in there I clean the throttle body. I will be D.I.Y. this to try save some money if the car is still doing the same problem I'm going to have to take her to the doctor (i.e. money spent)

Just bought some Bosch Platinum +2 spark plugs from Wal-Mart, if anybody has any experience with these let me know.

Could be plug wires too. At that mileage the valve covers have probably leaked oil into the spark plug wells so, you might want to consider doing the valve covers too. Cam seals and valve cover gaskets are pretty common high mileage 2J issues.

I'd run OEM plugs if it was my car. I've never seen an alternate plug work better than stock but, have had plugs work worse than stock.

I know this might be a stupid question but what is the OEM plugs and wires, meaning do I go to Toyota and get them (if so do you have the part #) or can I pick them up at any auto parts store, and what do I ask for (specific brand)?

Also thanks for the heads up on the other 2j issues, do you have the part numbers for the valve cover gaskets and cam seals?

Nice Job yet ;-)

For OBD Scanners, i have this Obd Reader together with the android app torque pro (4$).
Reads live-data and can also read and delete fault memory + cel

what kind of people install those diamond things on fenders???

Original Spark Plugs are Denso, but i don't know which type fits the gs 300.

That's what I was thinking, Densos.

I'd check "RockAuto" for plugs and wires. There's only 3 wires. 3 coils are connected directly and 3 wires one from each coil to a plug. Basically the 2J fires 2 plugs at a time.

New update:

It took five days to do a spark plug change (and no guys Im not slow, I decided to order more parts) Rockauto FTW......

Well since I was getting a misfire in cylinder #4 (PO304) I would do more than change out the plugs itself.

Parts: Denso Spark plugs
Denso Wire Set
Denso #4 Coil
x3 Toyota Connector Housings (thanks to this thread:https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...onnectors.html)

Also change the front throttle body gasket, Coil #2 #4 connector housing and change the O2 sensor (Bank 1 Sensor 2)

So here I am thinking I saved myself so much money and D.I.Y. these things

Now for the bad news

Taking out spark plugs, plug #3 had rust and a little watery substance in the hole (pics below) actually all the plug holes had a little watery substance when blowing out with the air compressor.
Then plug #2 had a white milky substance around the old plug when I pulled it out, this is making me nervous

So after putting everything back together and double check everything to make sure it was right, I crossed my fingers and fired her up.

No change still had a rumbling misfire with the CEL flashing. Connected the code reader and pulled the codes and got PO303 misfire in cylinder #3

So what do I do now
