The problem is not the engine. The concern are the suspensions.

I just joined this forum, an 02 Black GS 430 fell into my lap. It has 345k miles on it, runs like a top. Has a few minor issues, but is perfect mechanically. Can honestly say its the nicest car I've ever driven. 345k miles people. Lexus quality ain't no joke...

After 63k miles in the last 2 years I am not disappointed at all. Been a fun car and great driver. Very little I have had to do outside regular maint. I do however have a timing belt due.

If you're 18 now and you live to be 80, they could probably drive you from the funeral home to the graveyard in your GS and bury you in the car with it still running smooth like butter. That's how I plan on going out!

Man these cars are what I like to call Grandpa OG cars... They'll last however long you want them to so as long as you drive them carefully and maintain them properly. Mine has been ROCK SOLID to me. Dream car. Better then any BMW, Mercedes, Infiniti, Acura, etc that I've driven and I've had them all. Reliable like a Honda tho and I mean that with the biggest sincerity. get you one.. The lower the mileage THE BETTER !!!!!

Lol I highly doubt that the body and parts would last another 60 years everything would probably rust out. But I'm sure if taken care of like an old classic car like people do with old American cars it can be done wit this car without changing out the entire car

Yeah, I live in the desert. That's why the Air Force has their airplane graveyard here. Metal lasts a LONG time out here in the dry air.

My only concerns are that they are 9+ years old and most that I can buy have over 100,000 miles. Now I know Lexus is a great car manufacturer, perhaps even the best but I’d like to know what I'd be getting into.

Are they expensive to maintain service wise? What about insurance, does it being older help or hurt the monthly cost? Could I get to 200,000 without any major concerns if I took good care of it? Is there a time when problems start with the AC, cd player, etc.? I would really like to get one with 100k - 120k and drive for the next few years with no problems...

I'd love any input you guys would have and really appreciate it!
2 thangs... I know there are better replies above and you asked about the GS... I now own a gs430 and i love how dependable it is... Now, i used to also own an sc300... Beat to hell, 2 accidents, and i spun out on the highway and 250,000 miles on the motor... And it STILL ran perfectly... So in my opinion, Lexus (toyota) IS the best brand, hands down.

Not to knock on other cars but... I honestly don't get why people spend money and take out loans on certain new cars. I picked up a '99 LS400 with only 134k miles on it for $5100. It's a cream puff, interior 9.99/10, exterior only has a few minor dings. I would take the LS or my '01 GS430 with 165k miles over a lot of these new cars that will cost you around 25k+.

Not to mention, these older and well taken care of cars are essentially fully depreciated!
