Just Updated my Map Disc from Ver 4.1 to 12.1 today.

Well, I'm here to prove that I'm still able to do the Manual NAV Override function after updating to 12.1 map disc..


There was some rumor that once you go with map ver. 8.1 or above the "Nav Override" function becomes inoperable?? Answer: --> (False on 2GS with Nav Gen 2/3)

It does work as you can see from the pics below..

it wasnt a rumor micheal, on 8.1 you did indeed lose it. i know i had it. they replaced it on 11.1 or 12.1 i think.

wow, you went from 4.1 to 12.1 i bet that is much much better

I just looked at the spec sheet and Gen 2 is 2001 cars, and Gen 3 is 2002-2005. I know you have a '01, what year is Micheal's? IF yours and his locked you out at 8.1, I'm wondering if this only affects Gen2 Nav but Not Gen3..?

Yes sir, Its great! now i can actually used POI, and not driving around in open field on the map (in newer areas) LOL

sorry Don, i had a brainfart and was calling you Micheal for a minute. i had a gen 2/3 (depending on when in the year the car was made they switched to gen 3) which fried and then i upgraded to a gen 4 and it did the same thing....before removing it, i had the Gen 4 with the custom prestigious society override

I am about to update to version 12.1. I am at version 9.1 currently.

Can you repost the steps to get to the overide screen?

if you have a 2006 gs as your name suggests, you might wanna ask in the 3rd gen section as our steps may not be the same

He's talking about the model/generation of your GS (not the generation of your navigation). You should post in the 3rd gen GS forum

So to add to this ancient thread, I'm not having luck with searching. What is the newest generation of nav you can do with an 01GS430?

It sounds like gen5 is the last with a CD but that doesn't work and I can only do gen4?
