Default Welp, that lasted long... What should I do?

Put on my tint less than 2 months ago, and I get pulled over for illegal tint. From my calculations, i should've been barely legal at about 28% (40% tint layer on top of a layer of 70%), but the tint meter showed 18%.

My choices are to either remove the tint and not have to pay the citation, or leave it on and pay $115. At the same time, it'd cost about $100 to remove the tint. What should I do?

Hmm, 25% is legal here in TX for the fronts and the backs can be completely blacked out.

Do what I did. Get yourself a set of aftermarket or oem glass from a junkyard that has no tint. Then whenever you get a ticket just swap the glass, go get it inspected, then come home and put your tints back on. Not difficult or expensive to do.

That's smart, but I don't have the time or effort to do it.

I'm thinking I'll just remove the tint on the front windows, get it inspected, then put the legal 35% on. The backs are all about 15%, but I just can't risk another ticket on a college budget.

When you see the LEO just roll all your Windows down. That's what I did when I lived in South Florida.

Yea I kept paying the fine for years then I just got sick of getting pulled over and bit the bullet. It's like they're picking on you sometimes because they got nothing else to do. LAPD man, I can go on and on about these dudes

I changed my mind. First, I'm going to try and get a tint exemption for a visual impairment. If that doesn't work, then I'm going to do the plan I stated above.

That sucks. What did you try using as an excuse to get the exemption?

I told my eye doctor I was having problems with the sun while driving and hate wearing sunglasses. I'm sure he knew the deal but wrote the prescription anyway.

Btw, 35% tint on stock glass tested at 27% on my car if that makes any difference in your decision trying to stay legal.

just remove the two front tint yourself. it isn't hard. get it inspected, then retint the front legal %....

i don't have to worry about this anymore since i got a medical exception approved in NJ...
