Default Gs300 Idle Problem.

Hello CL! Have a problem with my 2001 GS300, i had a bad vibration problem a couple of months ago, i went and changed motor mounts, spark plugs, air filter, timing belt, it help alot, but when i start the car in the morning it idles in the 900's but when i leave and stop at the first light the idle goes down to 400 and its vibrates alot! But suddenly it goes back to maybe 700, but it still vibrates. Please help! I hate this vibration! I havent changed the fuel filter, would it help? It has 142,000 miles on it.

sounds like its choking. try cleaning the throttle body.

Clean the MAF, IACV, and maybe check out the tranny mounts. See if they are smashed. Around $50 for a new rear one.

Any special fluid to clean the MAF? isnt the IACV on this model a motor?

To clean the MAF just use CRC or something similar. There is probably a DIY somewere on this site.

it could be a weak MAF sensor where cleaning it doesnt really fix the problem... might have to replace it.

but i could be wrong.

If the motor was going bad you would hear a rod knock or something similar. ^^Everybody could be wrong, for all you know it could just be a vacuum hose that broke or fell off...(Would NOT hurt to check...)

when a vac line goes out the CEL usually turns on. but maybe.. maybe

I was talking about the IACV Motor.. Lol.

OP, did you ever find out your problem? I understand this thread is 2 years old, if someone else knows a fix to this, I have the same exact problem and recently had those repairs done as well.

My car was doing the same it ended up being something simple, the line from the throttle body to the airbox was cracked and loose, it didn't cause my CEL to go off though which I thought was strange

Airbox as in your air intake where the filter is? I used to have a stock air intake that was cracked as well, never got a CEL. I changed to a Weapon R Dragon Air Intake System and have been good. I did some more research, it could be my OCV or TPS sensor. I did have a limp mode problem 2 years ago, got it fixed. Maybe it is underlying problem with a used TPS sensor or something. First going to check OCV, clean filter, and that doesn't help, I will go to the next.
