Default New Member, wants a manual or sequential gearbox.

Hi, guys, My name is David, I come from San Francisco, and currently on my quest to find the 2GS that's right for me. But in the mean time, I have been doing my research on some random stuff like suspension upgrades and engine swap options.

But what intrigued me most was the manual swap. I do not want an automatic GS, I just don't like it, so I'm trying to find my options. To my dismay, even a R154 swap costs a fortune and according to some posts, the ECU requires a standalone and will cost a ****ton as well. And all that effort to use a lowly W58 is a waste of time.

I then tried to look for other transmissions like the T-56 to LS1 swap several members have on here as well. The setup looks good as the price seems to be alot more reasonable and I would get more for my buck.

But then, I stumbled upon this article of a W124 drift car and the way they added a sequential shifter made me wonder if it was possible to do the same thing with a GS. Is it possible to rewire the E-Shift Feature to a shifter like that.

Which THEN led me to wonder if you can use a 4L80E to a GS with minimal modifications. Does anyone know the difficulty of the swap and is it streetable? There's no way I can afford a real dogbox. Really, whats the difference between the really old GM autos that can shift without a clutch and the new racing sequentials?

Sorry if I'm going on too much or being retarded, still on this learning process. Thanks guys!

First and foremost, welcome David. In regards to adding a sequential shifter wired to the e-shift feature, your needs will not be fulfilled as the e-shift will not allow you to downshift into 1st gear. Unfortunately, I can't answer any of your other questions, although I'm sure someone here can point you in the right direction.
