Default How to check for broken motor mount?

Is there a fairly quick way to check for a broken motor mount? Sometimes feels like the car (motor) kinda torques up and then clunks when I accelerate hard from like stop sign or red light. Not all the time but sometimes. And its definitely noticeable when it does it... It only seems to do it under load, not in park, which seems to be more like motor mounts....

Any other ideas I should check while I'm at it? I know from dealing with my 68 Camaro it feels like motor mount.....

Open the hood and start the car. Rev the motor and have a friend watch the motor as you rev for any movement. If he or she notices considerable movement when you rev, then the mounts are due. Another indication is vibration in the cabin. Our cars were built to not feel a thing while the motor is running or under acceleration. If there is vibration of any kind, then its likely the motor and tranny mounts

Yep. Try reving it. if the motor doesn't move much, try putting the car into drive, and then into reverse while giving it a little gas (while holding very hard on the brake). If you've got a bad mount, you'll see the motor twist.

This is the way I checked mine. Put e-brake on, put car into D, left foot firmly pressing on brakes and right foot giving it a little gas. Have another person under the hood checking for more/less movement of the motor.
