Re-Key door lock cylinder question
Hey. Have any of you had your door lock cylinder rekeyed by an experience locksmith? I'm looking for someone who has been thru this process. What to look out for. The Lexus dealer stated that it could be done. My front pass door lock and handle was busted lastnight. I plan on ordering the new door handle from Sewell with our discount, because it will come painted, but I plan on picking up a used door lock cylinder and having it rekeyed to match my current key. I don't think it make sense to purchase a brand new lock, just to have it rekeyed to match my current key. Since it will be rekeyed, I thought it would be feasible to purchase a used lock cylinder from eBay or here. I've read the DIY on removing the handles, so I think this is something I can tackle. Worse case is that I can installed the used cyl, but my current key will not work/enter the lock on the pass side door. I never use that door to enter and I don't plan on selling or trading my car in. I called dealer and new prices are below without discount:
$154.32 door handle 6921030270-E2
$370.55 RH door cylinder 6905130330
I don't have an acount with Sewell yet. Can any of you guys with an account please provide what the discount price is? Thanks.

Wow, so no one has installed new or used lock cylinders on their cars?? I found old threads, but I can't contact someone who isn't active on the site anymore. Found someone local who said they can rekey the lock and I got the discounted prices from Sewell.
The main thing that I'm worried about is that my key fob isn't working at all with the destroyed lock. Light don't flash, can't lock/unlock with key...Hopefully once I install the new lock, everything will be back to normal. Guess I gotta search the key program DIY. Surprised that isn't in the sticky!

I feel much better. I thought that maybe the alarm system was ******ed up when the idiot completely destroyed my lock. So after I get it rekeyed and install, just put in my master key and all should be well correct? Thought that I may have to re-program the darn thing.
