Hello fellow club lexus members,

I have just acquired a 2001 lexus gs300 and upon the growing list of repairs that I have been trying to mark off my list, i have come across a problem with the heater system.
I have just replaced the blend door actuator which works now, and also replaced the blower motor resistor. Which now allows the car to properly mix modes and blow air out the vents. Now my problem with the heater is now it blows barely Luke warm air. I have topped off the engine coolant hoping that was my issue but now I suspect maybe it could be a faulty Heater Control Valve. I have searched the depths of this forum and Google and to no avail I cannot find the location of the heater control valve on this vehicle. I see the part is listed for sale on ebay and think I know what it looks like but still haven't been able to find its location on my lexus.

Pretty sure they only had the HCV on the 1GS. If the vehicle is getting up to temperature, isn't low on/losing antifreeze, and the temperature doors are working correctly then you likely have a slightly clogged heater core.

This car does not have a heater control valve. The heater core always circulates coolant from the engine.
If everything else has already been sorted out then replacing the heater core is your near future.
Lots of fun with dashboard removal (the preferred way) or cutting / splicing the pipes (the cheap way).
