I have a question for all you guys with a LSD out there.
...

It seems that we all agree that 3.26 LSD will give you a faster 0-60 times due to the extra gear shift that occurs on the 3.76. However, wouldn't the 3.76 produce a better 1/4 mile time which is also a better indication of the car's overall performance? Also, wouldn't the 3.76 be more suitable with a supercharged GS? Finally, I'm a little confused as to some saying that the 3.76 will hit the rev limiter quicker. Has anyone experienced that? (Mean Gene?) If so, is there a way to correct that?

Just wanted to get all this straightened out. Thanks all.

PS Sorry about the misprint on the subject (3.71)

Another question for you performance buffs out there.......

Has anyone installed RMM's valve body upgrade for the tranny? I read RMM's description, but I keep wondering on real life performance of that unit. How do you guys think Mo's tranny upgrade would work with this mod? Speculation anyone?

Mariusz,

The 3.76 on my GS when it was stock would bounce off the rev limiter for almost a second during the 1-2 shift. The computer could not shift quick enough and would get confused at times.

With my supercharged GS it not only would it be on the rev limiter sticking like a fly to honey but would destroy my engine because of the fuel cutoff.

When the tranny computer comes out from Mo@SwiftRacing (which is real soon) then using the 3.76 will work.

Personally I will stick with a LSD using 3.76 gearing for the street with my setup.

Michael, do you mean using the 3.76 will work when the computer comes out?

Why do you want to stick with your 3.76 if it is causing these probelms?

Wink 3.76 Gears

Mariusz - I'm with Mike - waiting on the tranny ECU as well. Although I've never hit the rev limiter on my GS ( bought the LSD w/3.76's from another CL member who never had that trouble either until he added Mo's S/C ), Mo's ECU is said to be programmable by SRT to allow for maximum results from performance modifications. It will allow for quicker shifts so Mike won't hit the limiter because of it's ability to be tailored to Mike's specific mods ( S/C; gears & everything else ). The RMM valve body mod is the same as Mo's first foray into tranny mods - supposed to allow for quicker & firmer shifts via increased & re-directed fluid flow ( like the old B&M kits ). I'm sure it works but they have no exchange program so U'll be down for a week or more while they do the work & ship it back to ya. IMO, the wait for Mo's will be worth it both because of ease of installation & the programmability factor. Haven't gotten around to quartering the GS since all my changes ( included the gears ) but the 0-60 times are posted in the FAQ forum. IME, I'd say that my quarter-mile times with the gears will drop at least as much as the 0-60 times. Funny how they didn't hurt my 0-60 times, even with the extra shift before 60 mph!?

Who manufactures the LSD that you guys are referring to? RMM? Is Mos upgrade going to be computer related only, or a valve body/ecu upgrade combo?

Default LSD

Tiny - It's the TRD made LSD I have. I got the RMM chunk with the 3.76 gears but Steve ( at Carson ) can get just the LSD for use with the stock gears. Was told that they have 2 styles available for the GS - a superduty piece rated for excess of 900 HP for those heavily modded Supras is available for around $2k!! 'Course, Mike or Mo may need that one pretty soon!! Mo's piece will be like the intake ECU - it will be soldered in a similar fashion near the factory ECU in the engine compartment.
