Reminder to Clean the Throttle Body & MAF
Hey guys - I'm cleaning up my 99 GS400 (getting ready to sell it) and had the typical hesitation and low idle (ocassionally shutting off). I cleaned the MAF and Throttlebody and its really a worth while saturday project. The hesistation is gone as is the low idle issue :-)
I cleaned it following this DIY guide --> https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...and-gs430.html
I pulled the throttle body off and cleaned behind it - as well as replaced the gasket (Autozone had it for 16 bucks). I'm a little sad i waited to clean it until I decided to sell it (gotta get it in check).
Anyone who has similar issues - or has quite a few miles on their GS should concider it, first time going through the steps and it took about an hour and a half.

Great article. Thanks.
Also to note. After a timing belt replacement on an '03 Camry v6, the car simply died. It wouldn't even idle for more than a few seconds. Cam sensor was fine. All 3 TDC points were accurate. All electronics were good. No codes of any kind. The issue? Dirt build up in the throttle body. After a good cleaning and a ten mile drive, the car ran like new again. I kept gassing the car at a stop because I thought it had died.

Did you replace the gasket because of a leak? I'm going to replace my valve cover gasket on my gs300.
