well this sucks...

i forgot to order my new RCAs until today, but i have everything else to install already. I ordered some nice high quality ones from knukonceptz so i dont want to just buy some random crappy ones over the weekend just to 'get er done.

Oh well, this will have to wait until wendesday for more progress.

pictures when i actually make real progress.

I finally removed all my kenwood stuff - my OEM nav integration unit - that has already been sold. I'll be at the show tomorrow with a show quality trunk, with no signals to make bump. but that's neither here nor there.

I wont make any moves until my new RCAs come in sometime next week.

the aftermarket wiring harness for the non nav model is it supposed to be plug and play for the non nav models?

are you installing yourself Chris? if not, why not just let the audio shop take care of this? im gonna keep a eye on this thread as im doing the same thing with a different radio

I'm in the same boat as you two. Is there anything required for non-navi hvac controls to work or is plug n play?

No, I am not having a shop install it. I'm wiring some of it up today, and will report back with some pics later.

HVAC controls are plug and play. Sakataj was referring to the audio harness.

After finding out that that crutchfield harness wasnt going to work earlier today, i started to look for another harness that would work. Good thing i have great friends at Sound of Tristate out in the Philly PA area (Thanks Vimean!) to recommend a different harness. Off to Best Buy (since I am in NYC, not Philly), the only shop open on Sunday locally.

Next stop, metra 70-8113. The pin outs are perfect and was a direct fit.

The ones I need were:
Blue/Yellow stripe - constant
Gray - Acc
Lt Green - Illumination
White/Black stripe - ground

Since I am using an aftermarket amp, I de-pinned the RCAs that are on the metra harness.

IF you plan on using the stock amp, you will be plugging the RCA wires from the metra harness into the front and rear RCAs coming off of the headunit. This will provide the low voltage signal for the amp. The only thing you WILL lose is the subwoofer (i think).

Couple things to note... I almost destroyed my dash kit from Carson. I left the box in front of the car and then drove out of the garage. I ended up bending one of the side bracket, but my lucky *** did not even scratch the dash trim piece.. WOOT! The other thing, I am still waiting on the RCAs i ordered from KnuKonceptz so I did not button up the dash yet.

I will confirm that is what I have. I just want to have a thread that has no false information. Only confirmed and real world parts.
