Default Broke my Fuel Vapor Feed pipe.. HELP

Like the title says, I was replacing my drivers side valve cover gasket today and of course, i'm going to break something. The part looks like this: http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTAyMlgxNTk5/z/m3IAAOSwqu9U4Vls/$_57.JPG It is part #23818 in this diagram: http://jp-carparts.com/images/parts/..._1708_0001.png

And of course it had to happen after the parts department is closed for the weekend... Is this a part i'm going to need for the car to run properly? Or would it be safe just slapping a hose over where it used to be and connecting the two ends together? It doesn't really look like it serves a purpose, it doesn't have any electrical connections to it, and it is just a sealed part with two hose connectors on the ends.

Otherwise I have to skip work monday and find a ride to the dealership.. Thanks for the help in advance.

Just use the same size hose from an autoparts store. Iv replaced lots of hoses in my engine with autozone tubes and the car has ran fine. As long as the vapor gets from one side to the other i dont see why/how it would make a difference. As far as i know it has to do with EVAP so the worst that could happen is you will get a check engine light.. And will not effect anything.
