Default My Clazzio re-dye project

Finally! After weeks of putting it off, my re-dye project is finally done. At first I wanted to do a cinnamon color. But when I got the dye from leatherworldtech I didn't like how it turned out. maybe because I used a foam applicator instead of an airbrush. So I contacted leatherworldtech and asked if I can exchange for a different color and they said yes. I went with the Porsche Boxter red because in the website it looked more of an orange. But when I got the dye, again I didn't like how it turned out. That's when I figured that maybe I need to use an airbrush. So I bought a compressor off of craigslist and bought an airbrush from harbor freight. Now on to the pics. Enjoy!

my $50 compressor - brand new with an extra 5-gallon tank

harbor freight airbrush

leatherworld tech dye

First I cleaned the seat cover with a dilluted degreaser (I used purple power)
Since it's not real leather there were no dyes or oils to remove.
No need to scuff up prior to dye application either.

First coat

Second coat - only takes about 15-20 minutes drying time between coats

Third coat - the black looks fully covered but upon close inspection there's still like a dark shadow
- one more coat is necessary and another one after to be on the safe side

Front driver seat

Front passenger seat

Rear seats (sorry kinda blurry)

This is what I wanted to do! Too bad I'm selling my GS.

If anyone wants to do this I had the same Clazzio covers for sale.

What about the door panel inserts? Looks incomplete if they're not done too.

I might just cover the inserts with red vinyl, so that it'll be a lot easier to put back to stock

I probably spent around $100 on the dye.
It depends on where you buy them

Nice! Now all you have to do is spray everything else white to make your seats pop!

I think it looks much better on the tan than I thought it would.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the cover cover the whole back seat, only bad in that in my eyes is it looses the "map holders" in the back of the seats.

Clazzio covers have a pocket on the back so you don't lose them.
