Default Supra TT LSD in a gs400-!HELP ASAP

So the stealership says my diff is on its way out and will need replacing, of course they want 4k and of course I figured now is the perfect time to just upgrade it to a supra tt LSD

I did find one to buy. I am ready to buy this right now, I need to know if it will work in my 99 gs400The pumpking and ring/pinon are not include. Its just the LSD.

It is a Torsen Jzx80 from a 6spd

You can't put the guts of an USDM 220mm 6spd in a GS, but early year JDM 6spds are 200mm and this will work, but later JDM 6spds came with the 220mm big rear same as the USDM.

You can use the entire big body 6spd pumpkin if you wanted, but need to swap axle shafts and ds flange. The JDM gear ratio would match up with your GS400, but the USDM ratio is a bit lower/longer..

It's an 8" but it's from a mk3, won't fit.

I also wonder the validity of them just saying your rear is almost shot.. What makes them think this? Diffs typically outlast everything other mechanical portion of most vehicles. Unless your drag racing or running big power through it.

I have read this a few times, and read it the other way a few times. I can't see the difference in pictures, do you have some actual evidence that these flanges are different?

They said when they had it on the lift and in drive the right rear would go around very choppy and when they took the drain plug out they found an "inch" of metal fillings.....

I have noticed turning right hand corners it is a slippy....I have been rough on it.

Doing more research It seems if I buy a Gs300 one I will get 3.92 gears in there and I can get everything for around 250ish and put it in myself.

Will a 2004 gs300 pumpkin fit on my 99 gs4?

Typically, if the innards of the differential is filled with metal shavings then it's highly likely that everything inside is trashed. The ring and pinion will probably be damaged by the shavings. If you just swap the differential alone, it will not fix the damaged ring and pinion gear.

The 10 bolt will only work with these cars and the 12 bolt 6 speed will only work with a 6 spd car.
