holes cut ....
So I finnaly cut the holes under the hood for the upper balljoints to pass through, I was just tired of the banging, I am amazed at the difference... Drove about 80 miles yesterdayl and not one knock... Makes me wanna go lower now... I would recomend this mod to anyone that is slammed especially in ny with all the potholes... Thanks CL for the tip....

It should not make a real difference structurally. You could even possibly hole saw it and then run a dimple die on the hole and it would actually make it stronger if you were really worried about rigidity..
That or you can only hole saw the first layer of metal, and that will get you about an extra 3/8ths of an inch of room for the ball joint to move, but not have any exposed hole in the engine bay.. thats what I did and I rarely hear my ball joints slap metal ( generally only on really **** roads and going fast )

When i did mine we really needed a 2" hole saw but had a 1 1/2" Hole Saw. So after getting through both layers, i went back and used a carbine bit and ate away at the bottom layer and very little to the top layer. Worked out perfect, the ball joint never really hits the top one as much as the first layer.
