GS - 2nd Gen (1998-2005) Discussion about the second generation GS300, GS400 and GS430 (1998 - 2005)

Are there any mods I can do to a GS430 besides engine swapping?

Default Are there any mods I can do to a GS430 besides engine swapping?

What's going on people! I'd like to add a little speed to my GS430. I've noticed that most ppl do swaps or tune the 300s. Apparently there's a reason why noone really fixes up (engine-wise) to my model (I mean besides, intake, exhaust or even supercharging/turboing it) Are there pulley kits, etc? All and any info would be great., Thanks!

I dont think there is a particular reason, it is just easier and cheaper to make big power on the 2JZGTE. A few guys around here have turbo or supercharged their 1UZ's, look around an do a little bit of searching and you will find what you need.

U can do that. It jus cost more. But most ppl do intake, exhaust. I'm goin to add a FULL exhaust, and a tune. That's it. I wish I cud do more, but I jus don't make enough dead presidents to get it done.

There are many threads over the years with members adding power to their GS's... Please use the search function up top to get some ideas of what you would like to to...

off the top of my head SRT intake, Supra rear end, exhaust, new tune, headers, etc...and of course the engine swap..

You can add an SRT intake, full exhaust, tune, supra diff, and upgrade your fuel delivery system and youll get some power while still staying NA. Doesn't cost much either.

Wow, thanks for the replies. Will definitely look into it. Yeah, for the ppl I know that have GS', it's mostly w/ the 2jz. Will start looking into the basic add-on's (srt, etc.). I know tuning goes a long way and will see what else. Obviously, I'm going to need to work on building my suspension considering that it goes hand in hand w/ performance.
Just like many, I wish I had more benjamin's to contribute to, but of course thanks to people like you all, I'd wanna get it right the first time. I'll look more into researching past threads. Thanks guys!

not sure about the other members on here, but when i was researching to buy my 2GS, the basic msg i got was that if you plan on modding it, go for the GS3... if you wanted something that was pretty quick in stock form and not bother modding it, get the V8...

With a 430, the most bang for you buck... I'd go:

PPE headers
SAFC
3.76 LSD

Then maybe add a catback and an intake, although I don't think either is going to give you much HP for the money. Between the headers and a tune, and the LSD though it'll be a much more spirited driver!
