How to Change Valve Cover Gasket 98 GS-300
I know how to take the top of the engine off enough to change the spark plugs but the intake manifold appears to have to be removed to be able to remove the valve cover. The manifold looks like it can be split into two parts but I can't tell if I have to remove the entire manifold or can I split it and remove the section that overhand the valve cover?
If so, is there a gasket required?
Any special tools required and is there anything other than just the valve cover gasket required to do this? Thanks.

Welcome! Its fairly straight forward it just takes patience. The thing that gave me a hard time was the evap hoses were hard and very brittle becareful because they will snap. I ended up breaking two, I used silicone to fix it, so BE CAREFUL! Make sure all the hoses are all connected back. I left the radiator hoses that clips under the intake unplugged and my car overheated. I realized what I did and replenished my lost coolant, no more issues. Good Luck. No more leaky gaskets!

yes remove the two halves of the menifold its simple and shouldnt be holding you up, just remove it for you are going to be spending some quality time in there making sure that surface is free of ALL remaining gasket and before you apply any FIPG your going to take rubbing alcohol cleaning all contact surface areas so there is absolutely no trace of any oils. I personally use lots of gasoline (a rag soaked not pouring it everywhere) to help remove all of the past gasket/grime/sludge BUT!! remember gas has oil in it and will cause you a leak if not removed with rubbin alcohol or carb cleaner.... just get the job done. hope your replacing your cam seals would be very foolish if you werent.

The valve cover on the passenger side isn't too bad but there's a bolt on the manifold that's really tough to access, I couldn't get to it.
Here's a different video, he points the bolt out at 2:41
