Default Heu guys you prolly don't remember me,

But iv been having some problems, when I was 16 my first car was a Lexus gs400 that my mom bought me, I'm 19 now and since then I have been financially stable, traded the Lexus in and got myself a Chrysler 300. Problem now is I'm going to trade in my chrysler for an srt8 300 or charger, BUT I MISS MY GS400!!. One pulled out my neighborhood 30 mins ago it was white with a black hood roof and trunk lowered on 20's and an exhaust that sounded just like mine, I immediately thought, do I want an srt8?! Or do I want to own another Lexus? I want a street monster, I feel like what can I do to a gs400? The srt8 is like, throw a cam, pedator tune, nos and there you go over 500hp, What can I do to the 400... I don't want 2jzgte swap cause I like the sound of the v8 and I would rather have the supra then just the engine, please shed some light I miss u guys..
Here is my current car

With the 400/430 you have the option of a supercharger that can gain ponies. No ,it probably won't match the srt8 but it'll be more than enough for a fast street car. Looks of course I'm bias and will say the gs wins on looks when modified.

I agree. But I thought superchargers were dicontinued?

Not to confuse things, but would you consider a tricked out IS300 for track-day use? You can turbo the heck out of it, get all the FIGS Eng. suspension parts and have a more nimble, responsive car.. I am getting that you want to go fast, how about going as absolutely fast as you can on a track instead of on the street?

There are still members selling full kits or partial kits every now and then in the classifieds.

If you're looking for power, then it's going to be very expensive to match a Stock SRT8. Buth then again GS4's are cheap now a days too.
I would just go for the SRT. I love the 2GS but there are way too many riced out where I live.
I always see a lowered SRT8 charger on Vossens, thing looks sick. Also, my buddy had a bagged 300c SRT. it had great power.
I would not chose a regular or even a hemi over a GS though.

My dad gave me his 00' gs400 for my 16th birthday, I'm 17 now and still have the car, I love it more than anything though, its like the perfect mix between luxury and sport, and you just don't have that with the chrysler, also Lexus is just so classy when in my opinion those chrysler 300's just seem sorta cheap. But it's really your decision. I say go GS!

Not sure but a properly SCd GS4 will make well over 500hp @ crank and probably run high 12s in the 1/4 with low 4 sec 0-60 times. Search some member posts and you'll get more info. Fyi, they will hang with a well modded SRT8. Hell, I hung with a stock SRT8 charger with my current non supercharged setup! Keep in mind, those SRT8s are VERY heavy. They do make big power but the weight is a huge con.

I think I have seen 1 video of a Supercharged GS4 run in the high 12's (the SRT video). It seems like every one that supercharges their GS4 never posts videos, or the times they run.

I think a decent supercharged GS4 would run low to mid 13's quarter mile wise and mid to high 4's 0-60. It just depends how much you spend and how well the SC set up works. 12's and low 4's are definitely possible, but not easy.

I remember that the twin turbo GS 400 made by SRT went 0-60 in 4.3 second and I think they were charging 30,000 for that set up. That set up made a lot of power, more that most SC set ups provide.

Yeah yeah, I remember your sig pic. Didn't you get 10k as a gift or something and was gonna dump it into the GS. So what ever happened with that is that when you went and bought this 300 or something??

There's an srt8 at the local dragstrip that was running low 10's, looked stock but sure didn't run stock, it sounded wicked. There were some 4 door rams running 9's as well. But I would still never own any dodge/chrysler product. Although the new challenger actually looks pretty good, I have to say they did do a decent job on that car.

If you love the GS and are stuck on wanting a v8, then amsmike's LSx swap kit is calling your name, cheaper and easier to get more power out of that then the it takes to get it from a 400/430. Just get you a high mileage gs with a wore motor and a good body for cheap. No matter what year you get your gonna need all new bushings/rods ends/ball joints anyway so I wouldn't overpay too much if your gonna yank the engine anyway.

Good Luck, let us know what you end up deciding on~!

GS400 with LS2 swap......cam/intake/headers.......spray......600hp

If an LS1 can fit in an IS300 bay.......an LS2 can fit in a GS400 bay.....

Agree with some remarks. Check out LA Lex's posts, he hit 4.3s 0-60 in the 1/4 mile. If you look at real old posts you will find that yes, some were only able to manage a 13.2 1/4 mile but also some of those guys didn't have supporting mods like headers and steeper gears or a high stall torque converter. Also keep in mind a 400whp 2nd gen GS is capable of hitting even close to mid 12s in the 1/4 mile! Do you know why no one is able to do this with a supercharged GS4? Because everyone knows that you have to let off the gas between EVERY shift so the stupid sloppy transmission can shift gears. If the tranny is modded properly to avoid having to do this then into the 12s would be no problem at all. Imagine having all that power and have to let off the gas in an automatic, it KILLS the powerband and your 1/4 mile time. But when you ask these same people how is it from a roll, they hang with new M5's. Just ask RMMGS4. Yes, he has a lot of supporting mods but no nitrous or internal engine work and he edges out new M5's!

The new M5's are def quicker than the SRT8s. Stick with Lexus, they're cooler. Lol. The LSx swap is also an awesome alternative. Bottom line is these cars can be built to really run, all for under $10k if you're good. Good luck to the OP.

Ahhh, dude ls1 swap just sounds like a nightmare. I'm not a mechanic, I just considered srt8 cause I have a buddy with one and a couple uti homies that could help me with the simple things like cam tune ect. I'm not looking into doing an engine/ tranny swap. The car will be my daily driver. I still live with my mom she pays my phone bill and insurance, all I pay is the car payment witch isn't too bad since I used the 4000 I got from when I sold the Lexus for a down on the Chrysler. So I have money to spend just not all at once, are the rmm s/c just a bolt on? Can the stock internals handle it? What about reliability?

You are not financially stable if you aren't living on your own, have car payments, and if you lost all means of income wouldn't be able to live your same lifestyle for 6months+.

I wouldn't kid myself otherwise. just my 2cents....
But if you are aware of the realities of your financial status and this is recreation money that will bring you enjoyment, have fun !
