Default LS400 Brake question...

ok so i am now seriously looking into getting the ls4 bbk. i have 8.5x20 wheels in front with a +37 offset i think (they areTSW's so i believe it is called "standard" disc) 1st is ths correct and could a ls4 kit fit with out rubbing. the gap between oem calipers and inner spokes is about 3/4".

i have serches for exact caliper widths between oem and the ls's, basicly i wanna know how much wider the ls's are than the oem caliper. exact measurements would be nice. or pics of them side by side?
thanks for any info provided....or if your local maybe i could test fit with my wheels.

i have already checked the back sides of the wheel, no offsets stamped. i heard TSW only uses standard discs and similar offsets on all thier wheels? i already have exact rcas' up front and sage in the rear.

A 15 mm spacer is needed to run our stock wheels with ls400 brakes, would lead me to believe the ls are 15 mm wider than stock GS calipers. If you've got 3/4 of an inch they should clear easily.

its hard to say, offset usually helps, but the design of the spokes also matter.

my winter wheels are 17x8 +25, the overall diameter was big enough for the ls400 calipers, but the style of the spokes still required me to get a 5mm spacer to clear the caliper.

Spoke design and "disk type" are usually the main factors to consider for BBK clearance. You may need a "high disk" set of wheels in lieu of your "standard disk." Good luck!

I know that it's WHEEL-SPECIFIC regarding the fitment, but just as a reference could you tell me what width and offset your TSW's are?

I JUST installed the LS400 calipers- I can get away with (only) 8mm spacers and my new wheels, but I'd MUCH rather have OEM (35mm) studs installed again and have NO SPACER. (that would be sweet!)

I'd probably just buy some 3GS wheels for the winter months. (even though I'm MORE-THAN-LIKELY NOT GONNA BE 'USING' THE GS THIS WINTER, in [****TY] PITTSBURGH! ha)

That's cool for you- only using a 5mm spacer is nice! What about your fenders though, do your tires rub the fenders at all over large bumps?

I have a 8mm spacers up front, and the tires are hitting the very inside of the fenders over bumps. (when the car's [TRYING] to tuck tire... and can't. ha...FAIL! lol

ALSO- did you install slightly longer studs or are the factory studs long enough to run 5mm spacers and still have enough threads for the lug nuts?

THANKS FOR THE HELP, bro...

all fenders rolled flat.

w/ spacers i was running total offset of the 17x8 at +10, no rub w/ 235/45/17 winter tires blizzak lm-25s to be exact.

some tires run more square than others.

i didnt install longer studs. usually u can get away with the stock studs with a 5mm spacer. my spacer is an adapter, and luckily my wheels ahve that empty space in between the bolt holes to the left over studs to stick thru.

some wheel makes dont have that option of high disc. some make the different on offset by the location of the wheel spokes relative to the drum, while others just add more space on the hub itself. your just gonna have to try it, but from most cars ive worked on with aftermarket or similar BBK's, 5mm spacer should suffice.
