Default Best Mufflers?

I'm looking to find a nice pair of mufflers that have a nice sound as well as some moderate performance gains.

Borla claims that their Boomer muffler's offer a 7-10% power increase as well as a great sound. But are there any mufflers out there that can offer both this power increase and a nice sound without me having to pay the "borla price" at over $200 a muffler?

These would be going on to a 00' GS400 with a K&N intake

Any Feedback would be great! Thanks!

first off..You Must Pay to Play...GO HARD or GO HOME..

most available name axle backs are gonna be within the same price.. You can try Egay and find some cheaper ones but quality and fitment is a coin toss.
Your best bet is to check out the classifieds and wait. You can also go catback which are more readily available.
Another option is to buy a pair of magnaflows and weld them on

I would consider myself lucky to have a car, I took the Bus and Train till i was in college. Either way there is no way around it, you want Quality you have to get Quality..Other than that you have to use your resources..
You can do muffler delete with Tips, or use this site to pick up a used cat and/or axle back.
Use the Search button and Sticky to hear and see different exhaust set ups.

At your current position i would invest in some nice wheels and keep that ****t Clean..

None of them are gonna give much performance gains.

Due to your comment I'd recommend just getting the 2 huge resonators cut out of the y pipe and replaced with straight pipe. Cheap to do and it really makes a 400/430 sound deeper with a bit more growl, doesn't do nearly as much on a 300 though.

I am a high school student too and i saved enough money to get the M2 y-pipe and mufflers on ebay and they sound amazing and you notice some performance gains but if you want to go cheaper you can just take out all your cats and resonators from the down pipe back and that is peace, sounds nice, and gives you performance. If you have patience i would say look on the classifieds, they have the best products for the best prices.

I just threw on HKS hi power on my 400 and its pretty loud coming from a stock exhaust. It sounds great on take off but holding it at 2k rpms or less can be annoying.
It sounds great when someone else is driving it by.

I'm not sure what I will be doing in the near future with it.
And PHML, doesn't the blitz and hks sound and look nearly identical?

I have the Greddy EVO2 catback on my 400 and I love it. Nice deep growl down low, fairly quite driveing, and HOLY ish during WOT.
