help with hid conversion kit
I am looking to buy a HID conversion kit 8000k for my 98 gs300. I want to get it right the first time around, so what sort of things shoold I consider why buying.

The 98 Lexus GS300 uses a 9006 bulb on the low beam meaning you will need a 9006 HID kit.
8000k will definitely give you a lot of blue color output and while it may look cool it's not going to be that bright. The higher you go in color temperature you sacrifice light output just to get more color. There is no functional benefit in going with higher color temperature. All cars that come with factory equipped HID's use bulbs in the 4300k range.

i as well recommend 6k, if you wanna do it right the first time retrofit.
a lot of people on the forums use DDM Tuning for HID kits. if you take this route, at least aim the beams downwards to minimize blindness to those in front of you!

I would personally go with 4300k for the brightest possible output. If you choose not to use a relay harness then make sure to use a ballast that has a low starting draw and is not as susceptible to voltage drops if you plan on using auto lights. XenonDepot Xtreme ballasts have a wider operational range then the XenonDepot Volt ballasts meaning that you can safely power these ballasts directly from the OEM wiring and are ideal for vehicle with "auto" headlight features.

I have the $30 kit from DDM Tuning Installed in my 00-2GS
8k Lowbeams
3k Fogs
LeD's Parking Lights
It is not required but I highly recommend installing a relay which is I think $10-15 each as to ensure enough power is fed into the ballasts. Plus you can utilize the other OEM Harnesses for another lighting purpose as you are only required to plug in one side for the relay to work.

be careful with using a relay harness that only has one fuse/relay for both sides. If the relay or fuse fail so do both your headlights.
Are you sure you got 8k and 3k? Your headlights have "purple" to them and your fogs don't really look yellow?
