not much at all on that swap, I remember seeing one recently about a guy in Ireland. The 1JZGTE is more accessible over in europe right? If you do, you would need to get one out of a chaser and I would highly recommend getting the VVTI version

you can put a 1jzgte in a gs, but depending on the gs year 98-00 you can put a 2jzgte.The 2jzgtevvti motor is if you have the triptronics 01-05 gs you can manually shift throught the steering wheel. otherwise 1jz or 2jz non vvti would worki either way hopes this helps.

Its pointless to put a 1J in because it doesnt bolt right in the 2GS like it does the SC. You'll spend just as much $$$ making a 1J fit than just swapping a 2J-GTE. Thats why nobody has ever done it before.

It does bolt directly in to the 2GS 100%. 1j/2j mounts all the same, oil pans, heads, trans, etc are all interchangeable. The wiring is the only big task, and there isn't any real extra cost there (assuming your doing your own work).

The single turbo vvti 1j is a good engine. And it can be had from chasers, soarers, mark II's, and a couple other vehicles.

I say go for it, leave the 2jzge 3.0 bottom in and do vvti 1j head aka 1.5 jz.

You can get a PLUG and PLAY harness from tweaked perf for around $800 complete give or take a little less of you have no broken clips.

1jz would fit the 2gs it all depends on your budget. ! jz engines can make some serious power if tuned right.
