i have the double din pioneer in dash navigation (AVIC z-130bt) but the factory sub wouldnt work with the factory amp so i used an aftermarket amp which got everything working again. love it.

I just was searching this subject. I'm in the process of getting my music equipment together. I planned on installing Infinity Reference 6.5 in the front, rear, and upgrading my factory sub for some 4ohm DVC free air 10" sub to achieve the factory 2 ohm. I've read once you install a aftermarket radio, it will not work with factory amp.

Soooo...are you saying once you installed your new cd player, you factory sub didn't work anymore, so you had to buy a external amp to drive the sub? MY GOAL is to JUST install a new cd player, install 2ohm 6.5 speakers in the front, 4 ohm speakers in the rear, and add a new sub...ALL DRIVEN off the factory amp. I thought that this would be possible if you match the resistance ohms of the speakers.

My tune button on my factory radio doesn't work anymore so I'm not able to adjust the treble or bass which pisses me off. If needed, I will just have to buy a cheap amp to push the new sub.

sorry for the late reply.. i want to say its possible if you still plan on using the factory amp but dont be surprised if it doesnt work.. only way to find out is to try it out.. to answer your question, yes, i had to get an aftermarket amp to power my factory and the built in amp in the headunit really woke up my speakers. sounds awesome. love it.
