Default 98 gs300 wont rev past 4k

g;day all i hope someone can help me with my problem.the problem is my 98 gs300 wont rev higher than 4000rpm it drives perfectly up to that point then stops like a rev limiter has tripped.i have searched the forum for days but havent found anything the same. history it was running perfectly until it had the dreaded no throttle vsc off check engine lights on limp mode.replaced accelerator pedal position sensor fixed the problem.however the car wont rev past 4000 rpm the repair there is no cel no stored codes nothing just refuses to go past 4k bouncing off the rev limiter it was ok before the repair.has anyone had this problem and know of a solution.i have pulled the battery cable to clear the ecu to no avail.also this being australian delivered car it is not obd2 compliant and codes are via cel.thanks in advance cheers

My brothers IS would rev normal till 4k then take forever to rev to 6k. I cleaned the mass air flow sensor and it revs perfect now right up to 6k. Doesn't sound like the exact same problem you are having but might be worth a try.

I think the limp mOde does limit RPM. Are you sure your not set to Snow mode on the switch near the shifter?

It sounds like its misfiring/rev limiting around 3800-4000rpm

I just re-read the post. When I installed my sensor I remember having to line up the ears on the sensor and throttle body or it wouldn't get full power. When you install the sensor you should be able to feel tension when you twist it left to right for adjustment. I wasn't paying attention when I reinstalled it and I couldn't figure out what I did wrong till I figured that out.
