Default GS430- 168k miles--changed original drive belt TODAY...

the belt was in excellent condition.... very impressed... it had a little wear but nothing like it should look

HIGHWAY MILES ARE GODLY MILES.... I just bought my 2003 GS430 with 168k miles and all highway use...
the interior is better then a 30k mile car and the drivetrain components look like new.... even the belt today I replaced looks amazing after double the recommended service and 9 years...

yeah i think with the kevlar it is just a over build with the belt... ..so it lasts forever...not to mention my car had all highway miles.... and that is almost zero stress..

helps that you are in FL and don't have to worry about Snow and Salt messing everything up...

i hate it up here, my belt only has 80k mi's on it and has been chattering along since it was replaced at 60k... mostly happens during cold startup, but my personal mechanic has attributed it to the tensioner... ill have the belt and the tensioner changed when i do the t-belt service at 90k...

Default I just got the car..it came from Missouri...

the last owner had it in Missouri since he bout it in 2007..... i really think the miles all highway was the key to the success of the belt...

Go take a look at it yourself. We can't see from our computers lol. My OEM belt had a lot of cracks in it and I replaced it with a Dayco at 97k. My belt didn't squeek or holler when it was cold, I was just afraid of all of the cracks so I went ahead and changed it.

why would you be changing the belt if you don't have any problems with it?
If I were you, I'd wait until

a) it starts squealing
b) you have some other service such as a timing belt replacement where they're taking the belt off anyway and won't charge you extra for changing the serpentine belt.

Default To be clear. I changed the timing belt not accessory belt

It was 100% original to 170k miles. And still looked new

We are suppose to change them at 90k miles.

Ok, now this makes sense. I never knew a drive belt to last 168k miles. I think that it's well known that the 90k timing belt service is wwaaayyy before it actually needs to be changed. I actually don't now anyone who has had a TB to break with our Lexus. I'm at 97k so I will change out some time this summer.

Are you saying you owned a 2GS that had a TB break before? If so how many miles were on it? If not, then it goes back to my original statement that these belts can easily go past 90k. I'm going to replace mine this year (summer) but I was told from lexus technicians that this belt can easily do 130k (based on the avg. miles customers brought their GS in) before replacement.
