i do agree that the 400 should have some variation. And yes 10k is alot to pay for a v8 upgrade. But 10k is the standard for that kind of an engine , and thats w/ every luxury car. Lexus is a quality brand, we all realized that when we purchased our cars. You can't walk into a lexus and demand this much and try to negotiate to much, b/c quite honestly, the cars sell themselves. So ur paying for the engine, comfort, and overall the famous "L". As for speed, yea, u got a slower car, but u got all the amenities that all other cars have in that class. I had a TL w/ 300hp, fast, great, luxury, ok, but when you get into a lexo, its a whole different feeling, and the majority will agree. Speed can be obtained, u just got to modify, I even asked that question in an old thread "can a GS300 be faster than a 400". I got alot of responses, and alot of good info. But my whole thing was I wanna keep it stock and at the same time fast. So i decided to pay the money and be fast, than pay some1 or something else to make it faster. It's all about preference...either way, you wont go wrong..

Seems all this HP marketing is working. It works for people who don't know squat. Typical TL/Altima/average person conversation...

BMW (or anyone else)owner: hey nice car what is it?
HP dude- a TL (or Altima, or _________)
BMW-oh, well it's nice
HP dude- well it's better than your orverpriced crap cause my Type-s (or 3.5 whatever) makes 260hp compared to your 189hp!.
BMW dude-What?
HP dude- that's right, my car has more HP, therefore SUPERIOR!
BMW dude-get a life
HP dude- get more HORSEPOWER!

And so it goes. It seems that more HORSEPOWER= A BETTER CAR

Did you know that when the U.S Congress had to decide on a 44k car to buy, they picked the GS 300. This is for real.

(BTW, this is supposed to make you laugh)

Amen 1Sick, the only advantage that comes from having one of those cars you listed (don't forget the Maxima) is that the extra HP gets you back to the dealership faster to replace the tranny, reapply all the fake wood, or repair the psuedo-leather seats What's funny is that these same posers will get burned by a riced out Civic/Eclipse/Integra etc. and turn around and say..."at least we have nicer cars". Zero to sixty you could probably beat a Rolls Royce, but does that make a GS300 nicer ? No.

When I drove the ES all the time, I was happy and content with my car. I never stated "it's better than a 5 series cause it's bigger or I only have 4 hp less than a 528 and I saved 15k(185hp to 189hp)". Some of the arguments of these new owners are so pathetic, it's ridiculous. For example, I read recently, "the GS is too big, the Altima is smaller and handles better" when the Altima is LARGER than the GS!

Though I do not have a 300, it is tiring how other people bash the car cause it has "only" 225hp.

What about where the PEAK hp is, or what about torque and when it's available?
