Default 02 GS300 Fuel Pump

Pretty sure the fuel pump is going on my daughters GS300. Has 110,000 on it and the car cranks fine, but doesn't always start. I have researched on here how to replace it and it seems pretty simple. Looked at Sewell's parts diagram and wanted to know if I just need to order the fuel pump and 2 filters. Other things are listed on the diagram like regulator, clip, o-rings, etc. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

The only other item I ordered from Sewell was the fuel pump o-ring listed in the parts diagram. It was a pretty easy/quick job.

Easy job, you'll just stink like gas for the rest of the day

The back seat bottom comes out with no tools, just pop it straight up real hard and then slide it forward and out.

Then all you need is a 10mm socket and a flatblade screwdriver to remove and disconnect the hanger assembly and pump.

Just pay careful attention that there is a tube connected to bottom of the pump that is coming over from the passenger side gas tank, it pulls off easily and you may miss it down in the tank on re-assembly if you weren't aware it was there.

And as with most all cars, the fuel sender/float is thin and somewhat sensitive/fragile, just be easy on it when handling it.

Good Luck, should take about 30-45min start to finish.

word of caution........be careful with the orings because a few of them can't be bought at lexus and may rip. I changed my filters and had a lot of headaches. I ended up buying a pump assembly from the junk yard and replacing the original assembly (which had the new filters). You can search my posts. Others had the same problem.

Tiger, My car is an 02 and I think the issues you were having were from the earlier models. I could see where 3 O-rings may be needed though. Does anyone know if 3 are required and if the part number on the Sewell's diagram is the right one?
