Default GS430 Tire Replacement

I have done some searching around I haven't found a clear answer....

What is the widest tire I can put on my 17" wheel?....7 spoke GS430 wheel.

I am thinking 255/40/17 or 245/45/17?

i think its 17x8. if so 245 45 17 should be no problem. 255 would work as well. I am running 18x7 with 255 40 18 and have no problem.

My wheels are 8 inches wide?

Do you notice any difference in ride quality with a lower profile tire?

Anyone know the width of the 7 spoke 17" wheel? Will a 255/40 work or do I need to go 245/45?

Someone has to have some knowledge on this. If I plus size the tire will it cause issues with the car?.....CEL or anything like that. I have read some things that the revolutions will be off and may cause transmission issues. I don't how much truth there is to that.

all the GS 17" wheels are 8" wide to the best of my knowledge - not sure why you'd want the widest tire possible honestly, the 235/45 is a great compromise between low profile and tire width a 255 is only 20MM wider or right about 3/4 of an inch or 3/8 of an inch on both sides - it is very likely that the 235 has just as much cross section on the road as the 255 would because of the way the tire fits on the wheel. You could certainly do a 245/45 as well, taht tire goes up in size slightly, about 3/10ths of an inch - a 255/40 goes down in size 3/10ths - I also found when trying to find a 255/40 tire that the weight ratings went DOWN making the selection of appropriate tires for a 4000 lb car to be smaller than you might think.

They are 17x8. I happened to notice as I took mine off to store them for winter last weekend.

Thread revive! I'm wanting to run a 275/40/17 on the rear of mine. I know the tire will fit, but am curious of the clearance on it. Any takers?

^^^up 2 sizes are ok like 235 wide, you can go 255 but 275, i doubt it bro. Your speed will change too when going wider tires (someone confirm me on this please)
