Default Concerned about amount of heat from led tail resistors

Just picked up some DEPO led tails for my 98 GS300 and was too excited to install them on thecar to concern myself with where to mount the resistors. So I just left them hanging for the time. I have read on a few threads that they heat up pretty bad but didnt think much about it. That is until I checked on them after driving a few miles after installing them......and man they were hot. Hot enough to leave a little heat scar on my trunk carpet. Most of the resistors I have seen on here have looked a little different than the ones that came with my lights. SEE PICS. So my question is....is anyone else running these DEPO's with the resistors that are housed in this black box thing and where did you mount them so that they do not burn any wires or trunk fabric? Also, is it possible to just run without the resistors? I am not a fan of the dash light but if I have to, I have to. The amount of heat coming from these has me a little concerned. Just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat and has a fix.

Thanks. I picked them up from this seller on ebay.

I am thinking of running them without the resistors.....I just dont want to cause any led's to go out on me. I dont think the dash light will bother me if they will run properly without the resistors.

u can leave the resistors off and it just set off the dash lamp. theres a wire u can pull out that will make the lamp indicator turn off tho

btw. can u take comparison pics of the lights?
lights on and lights braking. thanks

Is it just me, or does that seem like an awesome price for those tails?

I got bad lighting in my garage but here are a few.......let me know if they give you a good idea. BTW, thanks for the feedback about running them without resistors. I will probably do that.
